HEY, KING! Neu auf Anti- Records “Don´t Let Me Get Away” – Video

Das Debüt – Album von HEY KING! Ist für 2021 geplant und wird von Ben Harper produziert.

ANTI- Records verkünden mit HEY, KING! das neuste Familienmitglied!

HEY, KING! sind das kanadische (wohnhaft in Kalifornien) Indie-Pop-Rock Duo Natalie London und Taylor Plecity, die nun anhand des Songs “Don´t Let Me Get Away” das für 2021 geplante Debüt-Album ankündigen.

“I wanted to call it ‘abandonment issues’ but nobody thought that was a catchy title,”

London scherzt.

“This is one of those songs that came out in one fell swoop. I was wandering around alone and just started singing to myself about all the ways I could feel myself fucking up. By the time I got back to my RV I pulled out a piece of paper and wrote it down from beginning to end. This song is about as straightforward as it gets from me. I’d like to think that vulnerability is the backbone of every song on this record but this one especially is hard at times to get through.”

 

HEY,KING! macht so belastbare Lieder, weil London eine tödliche Krankheit überwunden hat. Während sie ihre Karriere an der Columbia Universität begonnen hatte, erkrankte sie an „Lyme Borreliose“ und war 4 Jahre lang ans Bett gefesselt.

“During that time, I couldn’t walk, talk, read or write, I lost a great deal of my memory,”

erklärt London.

“I felt like I had a complete chance at a brand new life and everything from my writing to what I listen to reflects that.”

Sie fügt hinzu,

“Starting my life over, I felt like a kid again. There was so much unharnessed passion, longing and a need for both adventure and home.”

Als London sich langsam in Genesung befand und begann, ihre neue musikalische Identität zu erforschen und das Leben zu beleben, lernte sie Plecity kennen. Ihre Beziehung entwickelte sich zu dem Paar, das zusammen Musik machte.

“While it makes for a really complex dynamic, you get to share every incredible experience you’ve been waiting your whole life for with the person that you love the most,”

sagt London.

Das kommende Debütalbum der Band wurde von Ben Harper produziert. Der größte Gewinn seit dem Moment, als er sie zum ersten Mal durch einen gemeinsamen Freund entdeckte. Harper brachte sie in die Sheldon Gombergs Silver Lake Studios und was als EP begann, entwickelte sich im Laufe eines Jahres zu einem Album in voller Länge, das 2021 auf ANTI- erscheint. Harper brachte sie auch auf die Bühne von Ben Harper, wo sie der Eröffnungsakt auf zwei internationalen Tourneen von Ben Harper und den Innocent Criminals waren.
