SeeYouSpaceCowboy mit neuem Album!

 

Heute ist es endlich soweit und SeeYouSpaceCowboy haben ihr lang erwartetes neues Album “The Romance Of Affliction” bei Pure Noise Records veröffentlicht.

 

Das ist das zweite vollständig lange Studioalbum der aus San Diego stammenden selbstbetitelten “Sasscore” Band, produziert von Knocked Loose Gitarrist Isaac Hale. Die Ankündigung des Album Release folgte auf den Release ihrer neusten Single “Misinterpreting Constellations”, die am 22.09.21 erschien.

 

   

“…it’s a look back at actions you viewed as a romantic situation, and still do to an extent, but being able to realise that ‘love at all cost’ maybe wasn’t the healthiest thing for yourself, them or others”. – Connie

  

Das Album breitet sich auch auf die dunklen Elemente die sich durch die dunklen Elemente der Band DNA webt. Es ist brutal und boshaft, entsetzlich aber zeitgleich seltsam beruhigend, kahl und doch schön. Es ist ein komplexer und fesselnder Mix von Genres dass sich gegen jegliche Schubladen Einordnung sträubt und die Band in ihrer eigene Welt platziert.

 

“Writing music is cathartic to me. Getting things on paper is the only way I know how to deal with stuff. So to have that happen two weeks later almost backed up why I wrote the album – it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. It reinforced that  I wrote the album that I needed to write”.

 

In den Texten geht es um die Probleme mit Missgeschicken, während es versucht die Schönheit zu finden, den Kampf und die Hoffnung auf Triumph.

 

 

“The album is a reflection on the last couple of years of our lives; It serves as a tongue in cheek, but genuine look at what it means to struggle through adversity while trying to find some beauty in it all… It’s about making art about parts of our lives that are ugly and how that seems to resonate the most with people”- Connie über die Themen des Albums

   

Es ist der Sound von totalem Zusammenbruch, von näher kommender Dunkelheit, von dem Versuch Auszubrechen- von Drogen, von Tod, von was auch nötig ist- von dem Horror der Existenz. Zwei Wochen nachdem das Album fertig aufgenommen wurde, starb Frontfrau Connie Sgarbossa fast an einer Drogenüberdosis. Es war, wie sie zugab, eine physische Manifestation der 13 Songs des Albums. 

 

“…what it means to be in love with someone as well as the substances that are killing you both, what it means to use sex as a way to try to feel content and loved but without a true connection that instead makes you feel more isolated. The poetic nature of writing songs about addiction only to almost die of an overdose a few weeks later. It’s a pretty coat of paint on a crumbling structure”. – Sgarbossa

 

Jeder Song hat seine eigene unvorhersehbare, chaotische Reise durch die Dunkelheit und den Schmerz, all verbunden durch das Universum dessen Teil sie sind.  Das Album ist gepackt mit Geschichten von Liebe, Abhängigkeit, Obsession und Erlösung und ist ein perfekter Mix aus heavy, chaotisch und konfrontal.
